Okay, so Hawaii… everyone talks about it, right? Beaches, volcanoes, sunsets… yeah, the whole tropical vibe. But if you’re wondering like what’s the best place to visit in Hawaii, well, it’s kinda tricky. Each island has its own thing going on, and honestly, depends on what you like. Oh yeah also, sometimes people just pick the first island they see flights to and it works out, but still…

Hawaii has 8 main islands: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Big Island (that’s actually called Hawaii too, confusing), Lanai, Molokai, Niihau, and Kahoolawe. Most people go to the first four. The others are kinda remote, and Niihau is restricted (like, you basically can’t go there).

Oahu: Busy but Iconic

Oahu is the most famous island. Home to Honolulu and Waikiki Beach.

• Waikiki Beach: Classic tourist spot. Surfing, sunbathing, shopping. Oh yeah, lots of people though, super crowded sometimes. But still, the vibe is nice.

• Diamond Head: Hiking here is worth it. Views over Honolulu are insane. Bring water, sunscreen, you’ll sweat.

• Pearl Harbor: For history buffs. USS Arizona Memorial, museums… kinda emotional.

• North Shore: Big waves, chill towns, shaved ice everywhere. Seriously, try the shaved ice.

Maui: Scenic and Chill

Maui is a bit more laid-back than Oahu. Known for:

• Haleakala National Park: Sunrise here is epic. Go early though — freezing at the top. Jacket required.

Maui’s beaches are gorgeous, snorkeling is amazing, romantic vibes. Couples love it. But also families do.

Kauai: Green Paradise

• Na Pali Coast: Stunning cliffs, hiking, or boat tours. Like a postcard in real life.

Kauai is quiet, less crowded. If you want to escape tourists, this is it. Oh yeah also, sometimes it rains a bit, but makes everything green and beautiful.

Big Island: Volcanoes & Variety

Big Island is huge. Literally multiple climates in one island.

• Hawaii Volcanoes National Park: Kilauea, Mauna Loa. Active volcanoes, lava flows sometimes. Bring good shoes, long hikes.

• Mauna Kea: Stargazing heaven. Sunset + stars = magical. Dress warm.

• Waterfalls: Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls. Easy access, very pretty.

• Black Sand Beaches: Punalu’u Beach… looks spooky but cool.

Big Island is great if you want adventure + variety. Oh yeah also, distances are big, driving takes time.

Lanai & Molokai: Hidden Gems

Lanai and Molokai are small, less touristy.

• Lanai: Quiet beaches, luxury resorts, pineapple fields, kinda off-grid.

• Molokai: Rural, untouched, authentic Hawaiian feel. Great for hiking and local culture.

If you want isolation and nature, these islands are perfect. But don’t expect nightlife or tons of shops.

For first-timers, Oahu or Maui is easier — lots to do, good infrastructure. But if you have time, try multiple islands — each feels like a different world.
